Why this exists

Hold a GC license in one state, an electrical or HVAC license in another, and you've got two renewal dates, two CE-hour rules, and two portals — and the CE provider you bought hours from only reminds you about the hours you bought from THEM.
Forgetting the renewal date and not finishing CE hours are the two most-cited reasons a trade license lapses — and a lapsed license means you legally can't pull permits, bid, sign contracts, or advertise until it's restored, sometimes reapplying from scratch.
So multi-state / multi-trade contractors track it in their head or a scratch calendar, and find out they've lapsed only when a permit desk or a GC asks for proof.
